We need to know that people we employ are the right person for the job, and remember that we don't know anything about you, so we can only shortlist you for an interview on the information you give us.
You need to complete all sections of the application form. Most of the questions have obvious answers, but you will also find this very important question:
Why have you have applied for this post and give examples of things you have done that make you particularly suited to this position:
To answer this question, we need you to tell us of any skills, experience and attitudes you have which relate to those we need.
You will find the skills we need in in the Person specification. If the item has an "E" beside it, it's essential so the more of those skills you can tell us about the better. The ones marked "D" are desirable, and also useful for us to know about.
So using the example below, in the 'Experience' section of the Person Specification, for no. 1 the skill of keeping records, you might say: "When I was studying, I was part of a project where I had to record all my findings on an excel spreadsheet, then ensure it was stored in a confidential way" or for no 6: 'Experience of providing services to the public' you might tell us "I have worked as a waiter in a busy restaurant where it was important to consider the customer need at all times, and keep being nice even when customers were being difficult."
Those are purely examples, and your experiences may be nothing like those, but the more examples you can give us, the more we can tell if you might be able to do the job. We know you probably won't have all the experiences needed, and that's ok, as long as you tell us what you do have. If you don't tell us about your relevant experience in this part, we will not be able to shortlist you.
